Significant changes are coming to Illinois’ health insurance landscape, and if you’re an agent with HealthCare.gov clients, you must take immediate action to protect your book of business.
What’s Happening?
As Illinois transitions from HealthCare.gov to its own state-based exchange, Get Covered Illinois, all customer data will migrate to the new platform, including broker-of-record designations, to ensure seamless auto-renewals for the 2026 Open Enrollment Period.
However, HealthCare.gov will not provide all the demographic details needed to properly link brokers to their clients. That means you must manually submit your demographic information to Get Covered Illinois using a simple form that’s due no later than July 15, 2025.
Failing to do so means:
- You could lose your current clients on the exchange.
- You may need to manually redesignate each individual client.
- Your broker profile will be incomplete or incorrect, affecting new client matches.
