Ambetter, in anticipation of many states no longer allowing National Producer Number (NPN) Overrides, will prohibit NPN Overrides effective October 15, 2025, across all states, regardless of CMS, state, or direct enrollment platform allowances.
Requirements for Producers:
- Application Submission – All individual agents who negotiate, sell, and solicit an Ambetter policy to a consumer must submit these applications using their own NPN.
- Licensing and Appointment – Any producer actively assisting with the application, plan selection, or enrollment process must have a license, contract, and appointment in every state where the agent works.
- Preemption of External Guidance – This Ambetter policy supersedes CMS, state, or platform guidance that may permit the NPN Override feature.
- Enforcement – Failure to comply may result in immediate termination of the agent and/or agency contract.
