A key insurance trend for 2026 is already having an impact. Molina Healthcare is announcing its exit from the traditional Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plan market in 2027.
Molina Healthcare will focus on its Medicare-Medicaid plans within the Medicare market. This decision comes as Molina also announces it will miss its 2026 profit forecast by half, and after the CMS announcement that its proposed 2027 Medicare Advantage rates will be flat.
Rising costs and flat-to-slightly increasing revenue are challenging for carriers to navigate while meeting investors’ profit expectations. CMS also announced it will start recovering Medicare Advantage coding overpayments from 2018 to 2024.
Given these factors, Molina’s decision is unsurprising. Here’s what Molina’s Medicare Advantage agent partners need to know:
- Your Molina Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plan clients will keep their current coverage through the end of 2026. They do not need to take any action at this time.
- At this time, Molina Healthcare will continue its Medicare-Medicaid plans in 2027.
