The Portland, Oregon-based Providence Health Plan will end its insurance operations at the end of 2026. The end of their insurance operations will impact 440,000 members for 2027 insurance coverage options.
Providence Health is looking to “transfer” its Medicaid and Medicare Advantage members to another healthcare entity in a near-future transaction. ACA- and employer-group members will have coverage through December 31, 2026, and must find new coverage sources for January 1, 2027.
The closure of Providence Health’s insurance operations continues a trend of mid-sized health system-owned health plans ending their operations in 2026. Agility will continue to keep insurance agents informed of changes like these occurring in the insurance marketplace.
PacificSource will also end all insurance operations in Montana, and its ACA Marketplace plans in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington at the end of 2026. The end of their Montana insurance operations will impact about 42,000 members, including 11,000 ACA members.
All Montana PacificSource policyholders will have coverage through December 31, 2026. All PacificSource ACA Marketplace members in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington will have coverage through December 31, 2026.
At this time, PacificSource will continue its Employer-group, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid plans in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
