Upgrades Continue on CignaForBrokers

Agility partner Cigna continues to enhance its CignaForBrokers online platform by moving Medicare Advantage (MA), Prescription Drug Plan (PDP), and Supplemental Benefits (CSB) contracting to a new platform accessible via CignaForBrokers.

This change requires a system blackout period from June 28 to July 20. During this blackout:

  • Agents/agencies will not be able to submit contracts electronically.

  • Cigna will accept CSB paper contracts, but will not process them until the new contracting system is live.

  • Cigna will continue to process agent appointments.

Cigna will notify MA and PDP recruiters, top lines, and CSB agents of the blackout period on May 21.

Key Dates to Remember

June 27 – The last day to submit contracts through ExpressWay, Producer Express, and SuranceBay (CSB vendor). CSB agents can submit paper contracts during the blackout period (June 28-July 20), but Cigna won’t process them until the new contracting system is live.

July 10 – The last day to complete contracting requirements, including 2025 certifications. Any open contract requests on this date will be closed and require a contract submission on or after July 21.

July 21 – Agents resume contract submissions through the new contracting system on CignaForBrokers. This is the target launch date for the new contracting system. If the system isn’t ready for use on this date, the blackout period will continue.

Tips for Completing Contracts Timely

Agents must review contract submissions for accuracy and completeness before submitting them to the contract portal. The new system can’t process inaccurate or incomplete contracts.

Common Reasons Why a Contract Isn’t Closed

  • An agent did not complete the contracting packet.

  • An agent did not complete certification training.

  • A background check was not on time.

Other Important Notes

  • Agents will access the new contracting system in CignaForBrokers by clicking the ‘Contracting’ link.

  • Cigna is retiring the current contracting portals, ExpressWay (CSB) and Producer Express (MA/PDP).

  • Agents will receive training and job aids before implementing these changes.

Agility partner Cigna also has urgent news for supplemental insurance agents. Cigna now has a simple way to track customer application status on CignaForBrokers.

Cigna is starting to share its new Application Status Tracker for applications submitted via Express App. This feature includes faster status updates and clear notifications when a policy needs attention during application.

To get started:

  1. Log on to CignaForBrokers.

2. After logging into the portal, click on the “Book of Business” link on the left-hand sidebar.

3. When you reach your Book of Business, click “Policy Status” for any new policy, which will take you to the Policy Details page.

Highlights of the Application Status Tracker

Checking application status is easy. Once you’ve clicked through to the Policy Details page, the following will now show for any new pending policy:

Status tracker bar – displayed at the top of the page, as shown in the image above. The status sections show when the application is:

  • Submitted – has been received from Express App

  • Pending Review – in the review queue

  • In Review – actively being reviewed

  • Approved – good to go!

What do the colors mean? Each status section has color coding to indicate the following:

  • Green – Passed (status-completed)

  • Yellow – In progress

  • Gray – Not completed

Alerts

  • Red notification in your Book of Business: any new policy requiring attention.

    • The policies on the “Policy Details” page typically appear as “In Review/yellow” in the status tracker bar (as shown in the image above).

On the Policy Details page, the alerts:

  1. Are below the Policy Information,
  2. Show a red notification in the bell icon with the number of new alerts for the policy.
  3. Display the subject for items requiring attention or delaying application processing, and include “Notes” with details about the issue.
  4. The blue “Document Upload” button at the bottom right of this page lets you easily upload digital documents.

Approved status – Once a policy is approved:

  1. The entire status tracker bar will be green.
  2. The Alerts section will disappear.
  3. Client Correspondence and Payment Information sections will appear for ongoing administration.
