Breaking News – Colorado Division of Insurance Announces Rocky Mountain HMO and Anthem Ending Some Colorado ACA Plans

Today, the Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI) announced that Rocky Mountain HMO, a division of UnitedHealthcare, and HMO Colorado, part of Anthem, a division of Elevance, will end ACA plans in several Colorado counties. Approximately 96,000 Coloradans are currently enrolled in these plans and will need new health coverage beginning November 1, 2025, when Open Enrollment begins.

Rocky Mountain HMO

Rocky Mountain HMO will withdraw the Doctors Plan in seven counties. The discontinued plan is in rating area 3, the Denver Metro area, and impacts about 26,000 Coloradans.

The counties impacted are:

  • Adams

 

  • Arapahoe

 

  • Broomfield

 

  • Denver

 

  • Douglas

 

  • Elbert

 

  • Jefferson

 

HMO Colorado

HMO Colorado will discontinue 21 plans in 11 counties, impacting 32,000 Coloradans. The company will also discontinue 41 plans in certain counties, impacting an additional 37,000 Coloradans.

The impacted counties are:

  • Adams

 

  • Arapahoe

 

  • Boulder

 

  • Broomfield

 

  • Clear Creek

 

  • Denver

 

  • Douglas

 

  • Elbert

 

  • El Paso

 

  • Gilpin

 

  • Jefferson

 

  • Larimer

 

  • Mesa

 

  • Park

 

  • Teller

 

  • Weld
