On October 1, CMS unveiled the roster of 2027 Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans available nationwide for January 1, 2027 enrollment. In this list, HealthSpring filed MA plans to provide coverage in 478 counties in 24 states for January 1, 2027 enrollment.
So, almost 127,000 HealthSpring MA members in Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Kansas, New York, Oregon, Utah, and across 470 counties will be affected by HealthSpring’s decision not to renew its 2026 MA plan. Around 65,000 of these HealthSpring MA members will have other 2027 HealthSpring MA plan options available in their area to consider.
That leaves around 62,000 HealthSpring MA members in these states and counties who need to find new Medicare health coverage options effective on January 1, 2027. This includes all HealthSpring MA members in Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Kansas, New York, Oregon, and Utah.
What This Means to HealthSpring and MA Agents?
All 127,000 HealthSpring MA members have received their 2027 non-renewal notices. HealthSpring MA agents should now also know who these clients are and contact them directly to discuss their 2027 options.
Have a set of questions ready for them to clarify their top healthcare needs and concerns on January 1, 2027. The 65,000 HealthSpring MA members who have another HealthSpring MA plan option to consider for 2027 know the name(s) of the plan(s) from this notice.
So HealthSpring MA agents should be walking these clients through these 2027 plan options now to determine whether they meet their needs and wants, based on your questions. If these plans are a good fit for them, enroll them in the plan at the beginning of AEP.
If they’re not a good fit, let this client know you’ll find them the best 3 Medicare health coverage options available to them in their area for 2027 as quickly as possible. For the approximately 62,000 HealthSpring MA members with no HealthSpring 2027 MA plan options, all other Medicare health coverage options in their area are on the table for consideration.
After asking questions to clarify their 2027 needs and wants, confirm that you’ll present their top 3 health coverage options available in their area as quickly as possible. Your goal is to present these options and enroll them in their chosen option as close to the beginning of AEP as possible.
